Grief Orientation is not about fixing grief or moving on from it.
It’s about learning how to face grief without being swallowed by it and slowly re-orienting yourself in a life that no longer looks the way it used to.
Think of it like this:
When loss hits, your internal compass shatters.
The world feels unfamiliar.
Your identity, safety, future plans, and sense of self all feel… off.
Grief Orientation is the process of learning how to stand in that disorientation without panic.
It acknowledges that grief changes:
Orientation comes before healing.
Before growth.
Before meaning.
You can’t move forward if you don’t know where you are.
It sounds like:
It looks like:
It doesn’t ask:
How do I get back to normal?
It asks:
Who am I now, and how do I live from here without abandoning myself?
Without orientation:
With orientation:
You don’t need to be fixed.
You need to be oriented.
Once orientation returns, everything else - clarity, confidence, meaning, even joy - can grow around the grief instead of fighting it.
